How To Make The Headlines

Carol’s free Facebook group is perfect for female entrepreneurs – whether you’re just starting out or you’ve already achieved press coverage, but want tips and advice on what journalists really want.

Carol will also be launching a DIY PR course teaching everything from how to draw out your story idea, how to find the right publication and journalists, how to write a killer pitch, as well as what NOT to do.

Carol offers PR services to brands, entrepreneurs or individuals who want to raise their profile or company in the national media on a consistent basis. Carol works with her clients to draw out their personal, human interest stories as well as their expertise, and brainstorm ideas and craft angles relevant to specific publications. Carol also offers services such as media biography writing, and PR for project or book launches. Carol only works on a one-to-one basis with a limited number of clients.

PR agencies

As an experienced and trusted pair of hands, Carol works closely with PR agencies as an additional resource. This can be for one-off projects, such as interviewing celebrities (which have included Emma Willis, Fred Sirieix, Tilly Ramsay plus others), and writing and pitching in features, to ongoing results-driven support. Clients include a national, NHS-backed healthy eating plan, a national radio station, university institute plus more.

Carol has been working as a journalist since 1999 – working her way up from local newspapers to the nationals. Her most recent staff position was as the Femail Editor at MailOnline where she worked with an incredible team of brilliant journalists in a fast-paced newsroom, producing up to 40 stories a day.

Carol went freelance in 2018, and since then has written case study-led stories for national newspapers and magazines – launching Make The Headlines to help women share their exclusive stories in the media.

Carol also offers PR services and strategy to entrepreneurs, brands and companies to raise their profile in the media through storytelling.
